STUBBORN SMELLS: CIGARETTE SMOKE ODOUR

ree

As a professional cleaning service, we are faced with many different types of smells, but few are as pervasive and difficult to eliminate as cigarette (tobacco) smoke. Whether you have recently moved into a new space and want to freshen it up or maybe you have had tenants smoking in a property that they weren't supposed to, lingering smoke scent can be a real issue.

Particle size: Cigarette smoke is notoriously difficult to treat due to its unique characteristics. The particle size of tobacco smoke can be as small as 0.01 microns, that's 100x smaller than pollen! These particles are so small they hang in the air which makes normal disinfection sprays (which produce mist that is around 50 microns) unable to tackle them effectively.

Penetration into Fabrics: Cigarette smoke infiltrates every nook and cranny, especially on fabrics like curtains, upholstery and carpets. The porous nature of these materials allows the odour to penetrate deeply, making it a difficult task to extract the smell entirely.

Surface Residue: The sticky residue left behind by cigarette smoke clings to surfaces, like walls, ceilings and furniture. This residue contains chemicals which contribute to the persistent nature of the smell and regular cleaning methods may not be sufficient to remove them.
